Onboarding List of an Extreme Mum [in View of Post COVID 19]

April 24, 2020 By Nanny 1 Comment

After all necessary health tests (note: look for a reputable lab and/or health center to take COVID19 test and general nanny test), the following are an extreme Mum’s checklists. Have a lookπŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ‘‡πŸΌ

Pre-work activity: Best for organized daily work.
Personal wash prior to work commencement
β€’ Househelp to wash all clothes- give extra bucket, powdered soap and handwash
β€’ Spread clothes on side of clothes line given.
{Really key on day 1 HYGIENE is key!!!}

Note: Maid sneezes onto shoulder or elbow area (bent elbow style). Alert!!! Coronavirus pandemic- Everyone must stay safe!!!

[ ] House entry rules:
Keep slippers down and you climb in.
Using back of hand, wash hands.

[ ] House exit rules:
Wear slippers well so doesn’t touch the ground.

[ ] Clean house steps {These aren’t absolutes but should get one really thinking}
Must wash feet as feet must be clean to prevent bringing in dirt. Hands must be washed too.(Hygiene can’t be over-emphasized! COVID-19 alert and common sense precautions)

Show sweeper, dusters for different places
Show napkins and mops too (necessary to have different types for different areas)
Explain sweeping, dusting then mopping process
Explain children’s room needs.
Carry bed, dust et al.

[ ] Washing of kitchen utensils
Wash all cups first then cutleries next! Soak oily bowls in soap , rinse off once soap absorbed oil.
Soak once more then re-check.
If still oily, soak again.
After wash item.

Reiterate that Maid must BE SMART at all times!

[ ] Clothes washing/laundry
Give guidelines for washing clothes with hands and/or machine.

For instance, no washing of clothes together- all at once in one bucket. All clothes must be washed one at a time.
Pack clothes before nightfall into the house.
Or you pack and leave in bowl for next day- day break.
Separate clothes in order white, dark and light (colours)

Load clothes in machine then you pack and dry.
Clothes line for children’s clothes separate from clothes line for adults!
Clothes’ line area is out of bounds for movement in and out when you have clothes there. Take other route!
After work, you wash rags/floor cleaner used. Separate for toilets from rags for other areas of house.

{A way to keep ones homes from cockroach infestations} Wash dustbin after work and keep at the back of house. Not at the tap area.

Time of work commencement and closure : ?? {Consider your needs and what would be reasonable for the maid in question}

There…it is! Onboarding list of a supposed extreme Mum.
Question: In your opinion, is it extreme?

Do you have any other essentials that you feel ought to be included? Please share!

    Well done! These indeed are invaluable simple steps to ensuring a hygienic environment post Covid-19. Most times our maids come from backgrounds were the norm is doing the opposite of the steps prescribed here so yes, enforcing these rules with our maids and live in helps is all too important.
